AppSumo Plus Day Sale: 15 Deals Breakdown + 3 Reviews
A breakdown of AppSumo's Plus Day sale featuring 15 deals across three categories, plus bite-sized reviews of Whirr (form builder), Claspo (pop-up builder), and Starbox Pro (WordPress author box plugin).
This Week's Taco Truck Roundup
AppSumo's Plus Day sale is running with 15 different deals available exclusively to Plus members, and it's a lot to unpack. This roundup covers three bite-sized product reviews — a form builder, a pop-up builder, and a WordPress author box plugin — followed by a full breakdown of every deal category in the Plus Day sale.
If you're an AppSumo Plus member (or considering becoming one), this is one of those events worth paying attention to. Some deals are exclusive and will disappear entirely after the sale ends, while others are code-limited and could sell out at any moment. And a handful will eventually open up to everyone, just at a higher price.
Full-length tutorials for each reviewed product are available separately if you want the deep dive. These condensed reviews focus on the highlights, the shortcomings, and the final scores.
Whirr: A Promising Form Builder Held Back by Missing Features
Whirr is a visual form builder that takes a refreshingly simple approach to creating forms. It works like editing a document — you can use Notion-style slash commands to build out a complete form without touching any code or dealing with complicated design tools. The experience is genuinely pleasant, and the product clearly has potential.
The problem is what's missing. There are currently no integrations and no API access, which means once someone fills out your form, you're stuck manually exporting that data. You can't connect it to Zapier, n8n, or any automation tool. For anyone running a business where lead capture needs to flow into a CRM or email sequence automatically, that's a dealbreaker.
There's also no custom domain support — no CNAME option to host forms on your own subdomain for brand consistency. One thing worth correcting from the original review: Whirr does support embedding. The option lives under the Share button (not Publish), and you can embed forms directly on your website. Credit to the Whirr team for pointing this out graciously in the comments.
Final score: 5.8 out of 10. The product itself is well-built and enjoyable to use, but the lack of integrations and white-label options resulted in heavy deductions. If the team adds automated data export and custom domains, this could easily climb into the high sixes or sevens.
Claspo: A Feature-Rich Pop-Up Builder That Punches Above Its Price
Claspo is a pop-up and widget builder that impressed on nearly every front. With over 700 templates and a genuinely full-featured editor, it manages to walk a fine line between power and usability. A developer can log in and access advanced CSS-level controls, while a non-technical user can grab a template, swap in their copy and images, tweak a few settings, and have a professional pop-up live in minutes.
The natural comparison is ConvertBox, another lifetime deal pop-up tool with a loyal following. Claspo wins on integrations, template variety, and editor depth. ConvertBox's advantage is simplicity — its limited editor means you can't accidentally break your layouts, which is actually a feature for true beginners. But ConvertBox only has about seven or eight templates compared to Claspo's 700-plus.
On pricing, Claspo is dramatically cheaper. ConvertBox runs $495 for 250,000 page views and 10 websites. Claspo's tier two offers double the page views and the same number of websites for $109. Even scaling all the way up to Claspo's tier five — 5 million page views and unlimited domains — it's only about $30 more than ConvertBox's single tier. The value proposition is hard to argue with.
Because Claspo is a SaaS platform rather than a WordPress plugin, it works across any website platform. Whether your clients are on Shopify, Wix, Ghost, or static HTML sites, you can deploy pop-ups everywhere without asking anyone to migrate their entire web presence.
Starbox Pro: A WordPress Author Box With Room to Improve
Starbox Pro is a WordPress plugin that adds an author information box at the bottom of your blog posts. The concept is solid — it's designed to boost your E-E-A-T signals (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness), which are ranking factors Google uses to evaluate content quality. Having a visible, well-designed author box can signal to both readers and search engines that a real human with credentials wrote the content.
The execution, however, falls short of the idea. Several of the available templates don't render cleanly — letters get clipped, spacing feels off, and the overall fit and finish doesn't meet the standard you'd expect from a dedicated plugin. It's functional, but it's rough around the edges.
Interestingly, Starbox Pro scored a 6.2 out of 10, which is higher than Whirr's 5.8 despite being the less impressive product overall. The reasoning comes down to the scoring methodology: Starbox Pro does what it claims to do. It adds an author box, it works, and the core promise is delivered. Whirr, on the other hand, has a fundamental gap — you can't get your data out without manual effort, which undermines the product's core purpose as a form builder.
AppSumo Plus Day: Understanding the Three Deal Categories
AppSumo Plus Day runs through August 19th at noon Central Time, and all 15 deals require an AppSumo Plus membership to access during the sale period. If you're not familiar, AppSumo Plus is essentially Amazon Prime for software deals — $100 per year gets you 10% off everything, early access to deals at lower prices, and a purchase protection policy that gives you $100 in credit if a Select tool shuts down within 12 months of your purchase.
The 15 deals break down into three distinct categories, and understanding the differences matters for making smart buying decisions.
**Exclusive Plus Day Deals (2 products):** Robomotion and Closly are only available during Plus Day. Once the sale ends, they're gone entirely — no general release, no second chance. Robomotion is a desktop automation platform that's been on AppSumo before but hasn't returned in a while. Closly is a cold email and LinkedIn outreach automation tool. If cold outreach is part of your business, it's worth comparing Closly against Email Sequences, another tool that just hit AppSumo around the same time.
**Code-Limited Deals (6 products):** These have a fixed number of codes available. Once sold out, they're done. After Plus Day ends, any remaining codes open up to all AppSumo users. The standout here is AdYouNeed, an ad creation tool for Facebook, Google, and Instagram with nearly 600 reviews — one of the highest-reviewed products in AppSumo history. It was already down to 190 codes just six hours into the sale. The other code-limited deals include DMARC Report (email security monitoring), GetTerms (legal page generator with unlimited access at tier five for agencies), Bannerboo (HTML animated ad builder), Reports (analytics dashboard builder), and BrainWork (AI blogging tool).
Plus Day General Access Deals and Final Thoughts
The remaining seven deals will eventually become available to all AppSumo users after Plus Day ends, but at a higher price. During the sale, Plus members get the lowest pricing. Tools in this category include Blue (project management), Akato (a popular LMS platform), InsertChat, GenPage, Conditional Blocks Pro (a WordPress tool), and Tethered.
For context on the price difference, a tool like Blue might jump from $49 to $59 for tier one after the sale. Akato could go from its Plus Day price up to $89 or $99 per code. These aren't massive jumps, but if you're already planning to buy, the Plus membership pays for itself quickly — especially combined with the 10% ongoing discount and the purchase protection policy.
The purchase protection angle is particularly worth noting. If even one Select tool you've purchased shuts down within a year, the $100 credit you receive as a Plus member effectively covers your annual membership cost. Given the reality that some software deals don't survive long-term, it's a meaningful safety net.
