Publer Review: Social Media Scheduling Tool Worth It?

Publer packs surprisingly thoughtful scheduling features into an affordable package, but limited platform support and bare-bones analytics hold it back from greatness.

What it does

Publer is a social media scheduling and management platform that lets you create, schedule, and automate posts across multiple social networks.

Who it's for

Social media managers, small business owners, and content creators who need an affordable alternative to premium scheduling tools like Hootsuite or Buffer.

First Impressions and Interface

Publer greets you with a dashboard that's heavy on bright lime green, and honestly, it's a bit much. The color scheme feels more like a call-to-action button splashed across the entire interface rather than something you'd want to stare at while managing your social accounts. A more subdued palette would go a long way toward making the experience feel polished.

That said, once you get past the visual quirks and the comic book superhero illustrations scattered around the UI, the actual layout is surprisingly intuitive. Navigation is straightforward, and you won't spend much time hunting for features. For a smaller player in the social media scheduling space, that's worth noting — clean usability is usually something you only get from the big-name tools with big-name price tags.

Teams, Accounts, and Workspace Setup

Publer organizes everything around a "teams" concept, which functions like workspaces. You can create separate teams for different brands or clients, then switch between them from a simple dropdown menu. Each team houses its own set of connected social accounts, keeping things neatly separated.

Connecting accounts is painless. During testing, linking LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook pages, and Facebook groups all worked without a hitch. The Facebook group integration is particularly handy — you can post directly to groups you administer without ever opening Facebook itself, which removes a major source of distraction from your workflow.

Creating and Customizing Posts

The post creation workflow is where Publer starts to shine. You can write a single post and push it to multiple platforms simultaneously, or split it off into platform-specific versions when you need to tailor the message for each network. Drag-and-drop media support is included, and you can upload videos up to one gigabyte in size.

Each connected account gets its own settings panel with some genuinely useful options. You can set up per-account watermarks for images, choosing placement and opacity. There are individual signatures — great for appending platform-specific hashtags automatically. URL shortening integrates with Bitly and Rebrandly, and you can toggle UTM parameters with a single switch to track where your clicks originate.

Publer also supports custom shortcodes, similar to personalization tags in email marketing. You can define variables like your email address or any repeated snippet, then drop them into posts with double curly brackets. It's a small feature, but it saves real time when you're managing multiple accounts with recurring content.

Scheduling Options and Content Recycling

Scheduling flexibility is arguably Publer's strongest suit. Beyond basic manual scheduling where you pick a date and time, you get auto-scheduling that distributes posts across your predefined posting windows. You set your preferred times in the account setup, and Publer fills the slots for you.

Content recycling takes this further. You can have a post go out a specific number of times on an auto-scheduled basis — say three times next week, distributed across your available slots. Recurring posts offer even more control, letting you specify exact days and times for repeated posting. If you're the type who repurposes evergreen content regularly, these features alone could justify the tool.

There's also an auto-delete option, which is surprisingly rare. If you're recycling content on a three or six-month rotation, you can set older posts to self-destruct automatically. And a delay-between-accounts setting lets you stagger posts across platforms by anywhere from one minute to two weeks, so your cross-posting doesn't look obviously automated.

Standout Features: Auto-Share and Follow-Up Comments

Two features stand out as genuinely thoughtful additions you don't see in every scheduling tool. The first is auto-sharing, which lets a post published on one account automatically get reshared from another. If you manage multiple brand pages or want content from a Facebook group to also appear on your Facebook page, this happens automatically on a schedule. No more remembering to manually reshare across your properties.

The second is follow-up comments. This is particularly useful on Facebook, where the conventional wisdom has been that posts containing links get less algorithmic reach. With Publer, you can schedule a comment with your link to drop immediately after the main post goes live. It's not a feature unique to Publer, but it's uncommon among newer and more affordable tools, so it's great to see it included here.

Platform Limitations and Analytics

The most significant limitation is platform support. At the time of this review, Publer only works with Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google My Business. Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube are listed as coming soon, but they're not available yet. Pinterest apparently had brief API access that expired — a common headache in the social media tool world where API partnerships shift constantly.

The lack of Instagram is the biggest gap. Direct posting to Instagram has been locked down to a handful of partners like Hootsuite and Buffer, with promises that more tools will gain access eventually. Until that happens, Publer simply can't serve users who rely heavily on Instagram.

Analytics are similarly underdeveloped. Even with an active Facebook group connected, the analytics dashboard returned no data during testing. This appears to be a newer feature still in active development, so it's not something you should rely on today.

Final Verdict: 8.3 out of 10

Publer earns an 8.3 out of 10, and that score reflects a tool that punches above its weight on features while still having some clear gaps to fill. The scheduling capabilities are genuinely impressive — auto-sharing, content recycling, follow-up comments, and per-account customization are the kinds of thoughtful touches you'd expect from a premium platform.

The main things holding it back are the limited platform roster and the underbaked analytics. If your social media strategy centers on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, Publer is a strong and affordable choice. If you need Instagram or Pinterest support, you'll want to wait until those integrations land. The bottom line: only invest in a tool that does what you need right now, and if Publer covers your platforms, it's well worth a look.
